CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

THE CLASSIC MOTH BOAT ASSOCIATION

 

OBJECTIVES

 

The objectives of the Classic Moth Boat Association shall be:

-To promote and encourage Classic Moth Boat Racing.

-To form and enforce universal rules for the measurement and racing of Classic Moth Boats.

- To help in the exchange of ideas in the design and construction of Classic Moth Boats.

- To secure for ourselves and others the right to compete in the designing and racing of Classic Moth Boats and the right to govern ourselves.

 

POWERS

The Classic Moth Boat Association shall derive its power from its members.

The Classic Moth Boat Associations shall have full power to form and enforce rules pertaining to Classic Moth Boats and no member shall have power to change them.

The power to make and amend rules shall be vested in the members.

 

CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

THE CLASSIC MOTH BOAT ASSOCIATION

 

ARTICLE I

Members

Section 1. Active members of the Association shall be those who have current dues paid.

Section 2. Members may be suspended by the Executive Committee, but may be expelled only at a meeting of the Association by two- of the vote cast.

Section 3. Dues, as fixed by these by-laws, must be paid and received by the Association before a member can be in good standing.

 

ARTICLE II

Meetings

 

Section 1. The Annual Meeting of the Association shall be hold at the time and place designated by the Executive Committee in each year.

Section 2. Special Meetings of the Association may be called by the President or upon request of twenty-five per cent of the members. No business shall be transacted at a special meeting except such business as is stated in the notice of the meeting.

Section 3. Written notice of the Annual Meeting and of special meetings shall be mailed by the Secretary to each member not less than thirty or more than forty-five days prior to the date of the meeting.

Section 4. All meetings of members present or represented by proxy shall constitute a quorum. .

Section 5. Any member of the Association shall have the right at any meeting, when recognized by the chair, to address the meeting.

 

ARTICLE III

Officers

 

Section 1. The executive officers shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary/Treasurer, and a Chief Measurer.

Section 2. All officers shall be elected at the Annual Meeting of the Association by a plurality of the votes cast and shall serve for one year commencing in January, or until their successors are-duly elected or appointed and qualify. All officers must be active members in good standing. Retiring officers shall turn over all books and papers pertaining to their office to their respective successors or to the Secretary/ Treasurer.

Section 3. President - The President shall be the Chairman of all committees and meetings. He shall have the power to appoint all committees, except as otherwise provided in these by-laws or rules. He shall take personal charge of publicity for the promotion of the national Regattas and general welfare of the Association. He shall make a full report of all activities pertaining to his office, to the Annual Meeting.

Section 4. Vice President - The Vice President shall assist the President and act in his absence. If the Office of the President shall become vacant, the Vice President shall take the Office as President.

Section 5. Secretary/Treasurer - The Secretary/Treasurer shall keep a true record of all boats and members of the Association. He shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the Association. He shall keep the original deed of gift of all trophies. The Secretary shall receive and answer all communications as directed by the Executive Committee. He shall receive all money due the Association and pay out all money owed by the Association as directed by the Executive Committee.

Section 6. The Chief Measurer shall oversee the measurements of all boats and issue certificates of approval.

ARTICLE IV

DUES AND CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION

 Section 1. Each active member shall pay annual dues of S5.00. Registering of boats is S15.00 at which time a sail number will be issued.

ARTICLE V

 

Section 1. The fiscal year of the Association shall be the Calendar year.

 

ARTICLE VI

AMENDMENTS

 

Section 1. These by-laws may be amended at any meeting of the Association by two-thirds of the votes cast at such meetings, and provided a quorum is present, and provided that notice of such amendment is sent to each member at least thirty days prior to the date of the meeting.

 Section 2. Any amendment proposed by a member shall be in the hands of the Secretary/Treasurer of the Association at least thirty days prior to the date when the notice of the meeting of the Association to consider amendment is to be mailed, and notice of such amendment shall be given to each member by the Secretary/Treasurer.

 

ARTICLE VII

CLASSIC MOTH BOAT MEASUREMENTS

 

Section 1. The measurement of all Classic Moth Boats shall be as described in the enclosure or Specifications Page (1), pages 1 & 2.

 

ARTICLE VIII

NATIONAL REGATTA STANDARDS

 

The Association shall sponsor annually a National Regatta for the selection of National Champion for the Moth Class.
